The Adobe Houses

Preservation: The two Historic Adobe Houses in Santa Barbara, CA, of great historic significance, were precisely 3D documented with as built drawings, and now are also being monitored because of a large excavation for the foundations of a new building on the adjacent lot. 

The drawings with the precise condition of walls and overall structures are used for comparison and monitoring in the future, as well as for historic preservation efforts.  

Existing conditions drawings and rectified images were produced for proper assessment of the fragile adobe walls. Existing cracks and faults were measured and are now being monitored.

With the as-built CAD drawings - the 3D information of the building / façades - we were able to create a precise perimeter outline, which, in association with interior photogrammetric models and laser measurements, allowed the production of accurate existing conditions floor plans - for example, see all the variable wall's different thickness.
