The Forney Museum, in Denver, CO., needed to be fast, reliably, and precisely documented for the architects and engineers working with its reutilization (adaptive-reuse) project as the corporate REI flagship.
The large building, still in operation as a transportation
museum at the time of the survey, was full with old cars, trains, airplanes and motorcycles, making
it difficult to even walk in its interior.
A complete set of working drawings - plans, sections, interior and
exterior elevations, roof plan and reflected ceiling plan - was produced
in 45 days of work, including site surveys.

The
building was constructed in two or three different periods, with flawed construction methods which made it dimensionally irregular.
Subjected to several modifications and uses in its 100 years,
and with structural faults, it presented a formidable task for proper documentation.

Several 3D photogrammetric models were simultaneously obtained, gradually tightening
accuracy and uniformity of all measurements. Exterior and interior elevations, plans for the
basement and main floor, sections, and the reflected ceiling plan were produced, with a
total of 31 "As-Found" CAD drawings with accuracy equal to or better than 2 inches.
