20 - 160 Harrison Street

Abandoned for 30 years, with no electricity, water, drainage, and with a very short project schedule (to become home of a new ".com" in downtown San Francisco), the building presented a difficult environment for the site survey and a challenge for documentation.

Readiness: Five floor plans, roof plan, 2 sections and 3 elevations were produced within 5 weeks of the first call from the client. Drawings were e-mailed to the team of architects, as they were being readied.

Precision: Although being a pre-fabricated building, built during WW II to assemble military equipment, the circular columns were not exactly concentric, nor had the same diameter for each different level. Precise and redundant photogrammetric measurements were necessary for the construction of plans and sections.

Accessibility: Variation on the levels of each floor were obtained with references (targets on the windows), so the precise façade's 3D overall survey could accurately provide all interior levels as well.
