The Church "São Francisco da Penitência"

The church "Igreja da Ordem III de São Francisco da Penitência", in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

One of the first  baroque churches in Rio (~1730), it had all of its 6 main chambers interior elevations documented.

Due to the complexity of the ornaments, photo-rectified mosaics were produced for the interior documentation.

The photo-rectification through photogrammetric restitution  produced 22 CAD drawings/mosaics, assisting extensive artwork and architectural restoration.

The photo-mosaics constitute layers of the CAD drawings. In this project, the digital images were planned to have sufficient resolution (pixels) allowing printing along with the drawings, in paper sizes up to A0.

To see and print the complete drawing click to download the PDF file Igreja da Ordem (20,552KB) - (It's a large file but it's worth to see it)

The association of distortion-free and scaled photographic information - with the CAD photogrammetric drawings, yields effective documentation of complex details and artwork.

Files were saved to CD ROM disks, allowing easy and flexible reproduction in various sizes and details, right on the restoration site and according to each use, making them an extremely useful restoration and maintenance tool.

As for historic documentation, they were plotted in archival acid-free paper and also turned into regular high-quality photographic negatives and copies.
